This is a group for recycled hippy dykes who are tired of
being put down by the "new" conservative voice in other groups.
You can say anything you like in here, and we agree to disagree when it is appropriate.
We are also here to support each other in personal areas such as health,
relationships, travel, gardening, and recipes, etc.
This is not a pornography group, so please don't post those pictures.
No flaming or spamming and (sorry guys) no men.
We can joke around too if we want! It's 1975 in here!
Be sure to check our files and links!

What is a Radicalesbian?

Radical feminism is the breedsource for many of the ideas which started the feminist movement. Radical feminism was the cutting edge of feminist theory from approximately 1967-1975.

We see the oppression of women as its most fundamental form; which defies boundaries of racism, culture, and economics. This movement focuses on social change of revolutionary proportions. We deny that women have natural roles based on their biology, or that men must adopt certain other roles based on theirs. Radical feminism attempts to draw a line in the sand between determinist patriarchy and humanism, in order to free us from narrow gender roles.

Separatists are often wrongly depicted as lesbians, and lesbians as seperatists. Separatists advocate separation from men; sometimes total, sometimes partial. The core idea is that "separating" from men enables women to see themselves in a different context. Many feminists feel that this separation is necessary for personal growth, although not necessarily permanent separation. All lesbians are not seperatists. "All" lesbians are different, and have their own minds and opinions. While they may not choose men for sexual fulfillment, they don't usually shun all interaction with men.

I am a radical feminist, who is a lesbian, but not a seperatist. I love and love the company of my son and grandsons, who, by the way, are feminists.~Beau
